Our Mission

With this project we hope to inspire more people to grow some of their own food, while bringing people together and making these efforts fun and entertaining.

We also intend to attract media and political attention that will mobilize support and action for local food production, food security, and access to healthy nutrition for all.

What This Website Offers

You are welcome to simply register your food growing project by clicking HERE, or, if you'd like you can also create a member profile and further interact with other 2012 Home Farm members. With a member profile you can upload photos of your growing project, share gardening tips and more. Or just browse the site to see the photos that other members have shared and check out the many gardening and local food resources we have available for you.

Thinking Water-Wise

Growing food takes water, and water is particularly precious in the Southwest. So please use water in your garden wisely - incorporate shade structures and ollas in your garden, mulch your plants, harvest rainwater, use the greywater from your kitchen sink, capture the extra water while your shower is heating up and use it in your garden, use a soil moisture gauge to make sure you are not overwatering your plants, and water by hand when possible to use just as much water as you need where you need it. It's amazing how water-efficient your garden can be when you use these and other methods.
